Dear Martin
I have just recently found your site and have also just purchased your book.
I was prescribed glasses about 10 years ago when I went to get my eyes tested because I didn't think I could read a number plate at the required distance and I was wanting to learn to drive. This was the only reason that I took the test.
Well I was prescribed glasses and told to wear them while driving , reading and watching the TV.
Up until then I could read a book and watch TV without glasses.(now I cant read without them)
Anyway when I first got the glasses and put them on everything was so much bigger and right in my face so to speak.
I really thought they had made a mistake so I telephoned only to be told that NO they had not made a mistake , in fact my prescription was only half the strength that I actually needed, but they couldn't give me the full strength glasses straight away , and that I was now seeing things as they actually are, whereas I had been seeing things as being further away than they actually were.
So my question is does this mean that I am nearsighted or far sighted
Also
How do I figure out what was going on when I first required glasses as according to my optician she couldn't understand how I got through my eye exams at school and I left school in 1984, which is years before I actually went for an exam which I only did so that I could read a number plate,
Otherwise, who knows, I might never have found the need to go get one
Thank you
Ruth
PS, loved looking round your site and also look forward to getting stuck into your book.
And thankyou for the work that you do
