Greetings, Sir Martin and colleagues,
I have engaged these wonderful healing methods several times and they have helped me greatly in successfully freeing myself of both chronic ankle and lower back pain. I am now able to go running several times a week, something I hadn't been able to do since I was 18 years old. In so doing I have really gotten a huge part of my SELF back. Hurrah!
Now I have purchased a copy of "Improve Your Vision" and I am reading it every day and following the "Optimal" program in the back of the book. I have a few questions regarding how to apply these teachings to my specific situation. Thank you for any thoughts or suggestions.
1. I have experienced a severe nearsighted condition that was first noticed when I was about 6 or 7 years old; and now I am 41. (Now I know it's temporary, though, and related to tensions in my consciousness.) I am told my vision is approx. 20/400 (I don't know what it is in the other rating system). My father had approximately the same vision, and he suffered a detached retina several years ago as well as cataracts, which I've chosen to use as motivation to do this program/healing work! I have now gotten to the point where it's actually more comfortable to *not* wear glasses or contact lenses. My eyes feel more free and relaxed; whereas before I used to panic without my lenses. So, that's progress! I am also noticing that I enjoy seeing things more without lenses--the visual textures are so much more rich and beautiful. I also believe I had my first two flashes of increased visual clarity today when walking around in the community and enjoying whatever I was seeing. It wasn't 100% clear, and it was only in the center of my visual field, not the periphery; but it was *definitely* much more clear for a few seconds. Sometimes tear drops or eye moisture had caused this effect in the past--but my eyes did *not* have extra moisture in them at the time!
Because I am not yet through the process, I am currently still experiencing necessity for my lenses when I'm working as well as doing many other things. My job demands that I see details, or else I can't function. Currently without my lenses I can read very few social signals; I can't see faces clearly at all. I am wondering whether you have any specific practical advice for people who experience a more severe degree of nearsightedness. Specifically--I feel as though I have to put on my lenses frequently; but I have the sense that when I do so, I might be causing a setback in the process or a slowing of my improvement. I'm also concerned about financial outlay/frequent visits to the eye doctor, frequent new/weaker pairs of glasses, etc. as I improve. How have people who had more blurry vision, handled this?
2. I am now aware of tensions in my eyes which I think I used to be numb to. (Now I try to listen to my eyes as they "talk" to me!) I notice these tensions across the tops of my eyeballs and especially on the right side. Palming sometimes alleviates them, and sometimes palming brings the tensions on more. When I am palming and I feel the tensions stir up I tell myself that the waves of tensions are going across my eye muscles--creating motion where they used to be rigid/frozen; preparing to release the tensions. Like muscles elsewhere in my body will sometimes cramp a bit as they are releasing tension. Sometimes I feel as though wearing my eyeglasses actually causes some tensions (again, a necessary evil, however temporary). Do you have any comments or suggestions about these tensions in my eyeballs and how to handle them or think about them?
3. I discovered that the tensions I feel in my eyes seem to be related to the tensions I have carried in my jaw, which also spread across my scalp. I can trace sore spots in my jaw and in front of my ears, up into my scalp. Sometimes I can get my eyes to relax (and not feel the tensions) by self-massaging my jaw and scalp. I have been clenching my jaw (not grinding, just clenching) every night as I sleep, involuntarily, for many years. I've tried to get it to stop but so far haven't succeeded. Of course, those bite guards the dentist sells you, do nothing to actually solve the issue. I think I need to release the tension in my jaw, too, to help my eyes and my entire Being. Do you have any suggestions for this?
4. What are your opinions on coffee? I love it very much! (I don't use any other drugs/drinking/smoking, etc. or eat junk food.) At the same time, I know that it tends to increase tension in the body.
Many thanks in advance and warmest wishes and love.
