This is a great message board. I have a tendency to hide my problems and try to deal with them all by myself, but as I took a vison heaking course recently and as I'm making improving my vision my priority in life at the moment, I've decided to change that and see if anyone can offer me some help and inspiration out there.
The work I'm doing with meditations and affirmations is making a difference. That's fantastic that something is happening! But what's happening is that I'm seeing more and more through my right (weak) eye instead of seeing only through my left eye as I have been for a few years. So instead of getting clarity I get the opposite - two images side by side.
How should I handle this and encourage them to come closer together?

Hi Anna,

It sounds like you are getting clarity, its just that your eyes haven't yet learned how to work together. I've had that problem myself and the vision balancing exercise in Martin's Book "Improve Your Vision" helps a lot. If you don't have the book yet, perhaps Martin will allow us to put directions here.

Hey thanks Maria. It's really encouraging to have your reply. I do have Martin's book and I'm working through it. Everything goes fine until a) he is talking about clarity, when 'clarity' for me is like a whole lot more confusion, and I have been getting a lot of resistance, or b) I do the hatha yoga exercises. Until now i have found it discouraging because it has made me more aware of the divergence between my eyes. How great was the degree of dovergence in your eyes before you overcame the problem?

Hi Anna,

Apparently I was born with the problem of each eye wanting to do its own thing, or it developed very quickly after being born. It effected all my mobility (I couldn't crawl right and my feet turned in when I walked and I was generally clumsy) and I remember having to do special exercises which I hated. These exercises included following my parent's finger or a penlight with both eyes, as well as walking and crawling exercises. I was even supposed to sleep in a special position.

From what I understand, the fact that the eyes don't want to work together means that two sides of the brain aren't working together very well either. I'm not really sure on all the implications of that though.

Anyway, in my early 20's I went to an eye doctor who noticed that my eyes still weren't working together, and gave me a string and instructions very much like the Vision Balancing Exercises in Martin's book. I used it faithfully for about a month and noticed a huge improvement in the ability of my eyes to work together. No more double vision or one eye shutting down. Over the years, I've used this technique on and off whenever I felt like I needed it.

Also, when starting the vision balancing, I noticed that things got worse before getting better. It was like the eyes were waking up to a new way of seeing. The first step was getting them to work better independently, then they could begin to work together.

Its interesting to me that you're getting resistance when reading about clarity. I wonder if a bit of journaling might help, laying the whole thing out on paper and allowing to resistance to pour out of you so you can see it for what it is. And with the eye exercises, make sure you're not being too agressive. Gentle movement is the key here, moving your eyes only as much as comfortable. It sounds like your eyes have been this way for a long time, and it may take a little while for them to adjust to your new way of being.

Just curious, do you find the eye movements or the thumb part of the exercises harder?

I find this so interesting - in the UK they call this 'wandering eyes', some people have it in one eye and some in both. And yes, I think it has to do with left/right brain coordination.

Silly question, but I have a theory (I have so many theories! ;D) that a high percentage of people with eye problems are geminis...are either of you a gemini?

Lol, I'm a Taurus, through and through. Many significant people in my life are geminis though so maybe its their influence

LoL All the people I know with vision problems are of every sign BUT Gemini. Though I only know 2 Gemini. I'm also a Taurus. My mother is a Capricorn and my brother is a Virgo. That's kinda interesting that all 3 of us are near-sighted. Me being the worst.

I think it really just has to do with the individual, as I know 2 Leos, Aries, 2 Scorpios, Sagittarius, and Pisces with vision problems. Also, the personality traits of any one horoscope aren't written in stone. They're just tendencies.

As a Taurus I'm a pretty good example of this. Taureans are supposedly not interested in psychic, occult, or spiritual things. I'm totally into that stuff. I am pretty lazy though

Thank you for all your posts. It's very encouraging what you say Maria, and I will go back to trying the string exercise. Actually I find the thumb exercise MUCH harder than the others. The thing is that I havent had this condition fo rmore than about four years. I began to have slight double vision and they diagnosed a brain tumour that had palsied the nerve controlling the outward turning of the right eye. I turned to healing to deal with the tunour, which was inoperable anyway, and I have been largely successful with that - tho' I havent had the scan yet which says it's completely disappeared it has diminished!
So I'm only now trying to deal with the vision thing which was the original problem, and I've detected a whole lot of resistance. Partly I think I had been avoiding it because any lack of progress is so immediately obvious. But it's interesting what you say about teaching both eyes to see again. That's exactly what has been happening in my right eye since I started really focussing on healing it a couple of weeks ago. I've been using my right eye more and more. It's still not any closer to co-ordinating with the other one but it has only been two weeks after all!
As for the stars - I'm a Leo..impatient, perfectionist,, fighting myself I guess. I'll go have a long talk with myself and try to be kinder! Love and peace to you all

You guys are having a great dialog.

Left eye turning in means looking inside to find something you think you have been doing wrong. Guilty of something, but not knowing what.

When left and right brain are not communicating, it means mom and dad did not communicate, and it was difficult to open to both at the same time. Seeing double means you are now getting input from both eyes, both sides of the brain, and that's good.

The string balancing technique should help, although in the beginning it might be a bit trying. Keep at it, though, and see what you can do inside that brings both images closer together.

thanks Martin. i think I'm learning enough to overcome my initial resistance when things seem 'impossible'. I will go back to the string and stick at it for a while and note my progress.

Good news! Quite a few people have looked at this thread so this message is for them and all the viewers who come after..
It's the holidays so I have been busy with friends and fun and not as much time for exercises and meditation as i would like. However two people have said that my inward turning right eye looks much better than in September, although they had no idea what I have been doing. It has been so encouraging to hear that comment from observers after only a month of applying vision techniques, and makes me happy with my (current) confused double vision.
(It's interesting by the way that if you have corssed eyes which both see then the images you perceive are all slightly ghostlike - the way they always show ghosts on film- double exposed so that you can see the background through them. That is exactly what I see at the moment, unless my consciousness registers that I need control , like when i'm driving, in which case my left eye takes over and I only see a single image. )
So the process is getting stronger and stronger for me and I will apply myself to the exercises even more, and i'm looking forward to complete clarity.
There's only one shadow.. the hospital has booked an operation to shorten the outward muscle of my right eye on 23rd January. I've already postponed it once, and my family has a hard time understanding why. I've decided to ask for a new vision assessment before that date so that i will be able to see the astonished face of the doctor when they register an improvement. I wish the date wasn't so close because I feel pressurised to achieve something and fear that I might not be ready. Any advice??

Family pressure can be difficult to withstand sometimes, especially if you're doing something different that they understand or approve of.

If it were me I'd probably have the eye exam and then use the improvement to justify (to your family) why you are postponing the operation again. Or simply postpone it or cancel it all together if that feels right to you.

As Martin says "trust your trip."

Could it be that the outward eye muscle is stretched out because of excess tension in the inner eye muscle? And would it perhaps be wise to also visualize the inner muscle relaxing and allowing the outer one to ease back into its proper length?
